I thought of a story where those orbs are somehow a threat to the world. So epic-scale machines were designed to act as guardians and capture them.

The second keyframe could be the smaller scale ships carrying the seeds. Once deployed, they grow into the spheres. If given long enough time, they develop into an absolute menace.
